about

This recording pre-dates the fist Trio FO release 'Breaking Silence'
Going through old recordings and hearing the conversations between tracks can be a nostalgic and sometimes poignant trip. The first improvisation was sparked off by something Tony played during his soundcheck. When I said 'We're recording" Tony jokingly counted 4 in - but we went with it. After this piece originally 50 mins long, we made a conscious effort to keep the improvisations shorter.
These recorded conversations can also be an inspiration for titles - an odd business for improvisers - Here, Tony's suggestion of "Five minutes and look for an ending?" or "That went where the buses don't run" an expression he often used when an improv went a bit dark.
